During a Christmas play at St Francis Parochial school, a gas light caused the place to go in flames. Eleven girls from the school sadly perished in the fire between 8-11 years. Teacher Helen Soebbing and several other teachers, Father Nicholas and Professor Mushold were sadly burned alive trying to save the other children.
