Daughter of Gaetano and Evangelina Paganelli. Lived in Marzabotto with her mother's sister Florinda. Through September to October the village was invaded by the Nazi Germans in 1944. Many Italian civilians were killed. Including Maria, her aunt and cousins Matilde (19) Bruna (17) Bruno (9).
