Atherton Cemetery - Danville

Atherton Cemetery can be accessed from the main road (County Hwy 503). Adjacent to Atherton Cemetery is Old Atherton, just to the south on top of the hill. The Cemeteries are blended together, but Old Atherton area has it's own driving entrance off of Lewis Road. (Also just south of Old Atherton, but separated by a fence is Sanhill Memorial Park Cemetery.) Old Atherton was started in 1858, and the new section is still active. Also in the 1860's, some remains were moved here from an old downtown Danville cemetery.
