Collection: C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery - Kalispell

Established in 1903 by Alicia Conrad, the widow of Kalispell's founder Charles E. Conrad, the cemetery was designed as a final resting place for Conrad in the scenic overlook he had personally selected shortly before his death in 1902. Its landscape design, attributed to architect Arthur Hobert, reflects the rural garden cemetery movement popular at the time, featuring winding pathways and carefully arranged sections.

The cemetery is noted for its architectural and historical elements, including a prominent Classical Revival mausoleum for Charles E. Conrad and intricate grave markers that display artistry and cultural narratives from the early 20th century. Over the years, it has expanded into a beautifully landscaped 87-acre site, remaining a place of reflection and memory. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012, recognizing its significance to Montana's heritage and the contributions of its notable residents.
