Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery - Escanaba

St. Anne's Parish established a cemetery near Portage Creek along M-35 in 1885, followed by St. Joseph's Parish, which established an adjoining cemetery in 1887. In 1900, several graves were relocated from the cemetery behind the original St. Joseph’s Church to the newly established St. Joseph’s Parish cemetery. On June 1, 1947, the two cemeteries were formally combined into a single resting place, and the unified name Holy Cross Cemetery was chosen to honor both parish communities.
