Collection: Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum - Alsip
Consecrated in 1923, Holy Sepulchre was the first cemetery in the Archdiocese to open post World War I, after Mt. Olivet Cemetery began to run out of burial space. Prior to being a Cemetery, the land served as Worth racetrack and later, state militia training and stockades. Located in Alsip, Illinois, the Cemetery spans 315 acres and has over 165,00 interments (as of 12/31/22).
The most prominent feature of Holy Sepulchre is the Mausoleum of the Archangels. The Garden Mausoleum crypt complex was dedicated by Cardinal Bernardin in 1993, and features life-size statues of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael. The iconic Mausoleum features outdoor above-ground burial spaces for full-body and cremated remains. The cemetery also features many shrines and statues honoring Irish Saints.
