Established in 1848, Maysville-Mason County Cemetery holds about 17,400 occupants including Rev. Elisha W. Green, Associate Justice to the Supreme Court Stanley Forman Reed, and Civil War Major General William "Bull" Nelson, and numerous Union and Confederate soldiers.

The cemetery includes a chapel, columbarium, historic and contemporary graves, and dozens of trees and flowering bushes within its 35 acre park-like setting. It is maintained by a dedicated crew of public works employees.
