Collection: Oak Ridge Cemetery - Woodhaven

Oak Ridge Cemetery is one of the oldest continuously active burial grounds in the area, with a history closely tied to the community. Many family names found on headstones, such as Armstrong, Brown, Clark, Hall, King, Peters, Sheeks, Van Riper, Vreeland, and West, reflect the origins of local street and road names, underscoring the deep-rooted legacy of these families. In 1876, the land now known as Oak Ridge Cemetery was owned by Jacob Reese Vreeland and Abrahm Helfrich, both of whom are interred in Section J, the cemetery’s original section, which remains a focal point of historical significance.
