Collection: Sacred Heart Cemetary - Roseville

The Sacred Heart Cemetery land was purchased from Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Pulcher. The cemetery was opened in July 1876 (currently old section). In 1928, the state of Michigan purchased the land on which the parish church stood in order to widen Gratiot Ave. As a result, the church was dismantled, and the present church was built. Ground was broken for a parish high school (the current new section of the cemetery) on February 5, 1955. Sacred Heart High School was opened in September of the same year, and in 1971 High School was closed. In 1985 the new cemetery section was built on the Sacred Heart High School land.

There are 5,068 grave sites on the new section, where 90 % is occupied and or sold.

The cemetery has 592 niches, where 75% is occupied and or sold.

The cemetery has also 432 crypts inside and outside mausoleum.
