Collection: Springwell Danish Cemetery - Omaha

Omaha's Springwell Cemetery was established by Danish immigrants in 1889 on ten acres of farmland purchased from the Danish Brotherhood. Today, Springwell is the final resting place for approximately 3,700 people, most of Danish descent, and is one of very few urban cemeteries purposely created for Danish immigrants and their descendants. Sophus Neble, longtime editor of the oldest Danish-language newspaper in America, Den danske Pioneer, is one of the many notables buried here. Mr. Neble was born in Stubbekøbing, Denmark, in 1859, and died in Omaha in 1931.
