Collection: Zion Episcopal Church Cemetery - Oconomowoc

Zion was founded in 1846 when the then-rector of Saint Paul's Milwaukee walked thirty-plus miles to provide services for a small group of Episcopalians in the fledgling Oconomowoc. Once organized as the parish church, clergy and professors from nearby Nashotah House Theological Seminary served as Zion's first rectors. One of the city's founders, John S. Rockwell, gave Zion a choice piece of property on which was built a modest brick church building. This building was replaced in 1888 by the current Romanesque church. The "parish house" was added in 1910 and an education wing was added in 1960. The mid-century tenure of Father Harry Pallett of almost thirty years was especially marked by stability, growth, and community engagement
